What if a Texas Tenant Abandons Property?
A Landlord does not have to go to court to reclaim possession of property if Tenant voluntarily moves out. Cautiously enter property and take a video has evidence. Post a 48- Hour Notice of Abandonment. If property is abaondoned, change locks and take immediate possession. If you are unsure, change locks after the 48-hours expires. If you have an active eviction case, it might be dismissed if Tenant gave Notice that they were moving or turned in the key. The Landlord must decide whether to pursue the Judgement against a Tenant who has vacated the property after the eviction lawsuit has been filed. Article by: Tiger Harris
